Wyoming Backpacking in Big Wilderness

Our guided Wyoming backpacking trips all have one thing in common: high country. That’s because next to Colorado, Wyoming is the second highest state above sea level. But Wyoming includes much bigger chunks of unbroken wild country than does its neighbor to the south, Colorado. And Wyoming’s high mountain country is as big and wild and spectacular as any landscape in the U.S. south of Alaska. For those of you who’ve experienced our treks, you know that big wilderness is what Big Wild is all about. In Wyoming, outside of our numerous wonderful backpack trips in the wilds of Yellowstone National Park, we also explore the sprawling lake-filled highlands of the craggy Wind River Range, the wild peaks, forests and tundra of the Absarokas, the gorgeous Gros Ventre range, and of course the incomparable Grand Tetons. All of these are big and wild places, especially the Winds and Absarokas, which are largely protected as designated Wilderness in unbroken tracts of well over a million acres (Winds) and over 2 million acres for the southern portion of the Absaroka range, where we run our treks. But the Gros Ventres and Tetons are big and wild, too, and include some of the most beautiful mountain country on Earth. The Winds, Absarokas and especially the Gros Ventres teem with wildlife, and and summer wildflowers in the spectacular Tetons are second to none. Wyoming backpacking in big wilderness with Big Wild Adventures is an experience that our clients never forget!
